The Mobile Tent School of "Coding Tomorrow' is on the Road for Earthquake-affected Children
THE SECOND CONTAINER TECHNOLOGY CLASS IN THE "CODING TOMORROW SUPPORTS THE SOCIAL LIFE" PROJECT WAS SET UP IN KAHRAMANMARAŞ
The second container technology class was set up in Kahramanmaraş as part of the "Coding Tomorrow Supports the Social Life" project launched in cooperation with Vodafone Turkey Foundation and Habitat Association to support the education of children in disaster areas. As part of the project, the mobile tent school will visit villages, tent cities and container cities in 11 disaster-affected provinces.
Vodafone Turkey Foundation and Habitat Association keep focusing on children in earthquake victims in the "Coding Tomorrow" project, which they initiated with the goal of raising generations ready for the digital future. Following Adıyaman, a container technology class was set up in Kahramanmaraş as part of the "Coding Tomorrow Supports the Social Life" project, which aims to support the education of children in disaster-stricken areas. Hatay and Malatya will join these cities in the coming months. As part of the project, the mobile tent school will also visit villages, tent cities and container cities in 11 disaster-affected provinces. Children aged 7-14 are participating in music and fairy tale workshops, coding training, and various social activities in the container classroom and mobile tent school along with psychosocial support provided through activity-play therapy. The project aims to reach 100,000 children.
Hasan Süel - the Chair of Vodafone Turkey Foundation, Taha Aydoğmuş - Habitat Association Assistant Secretary General, and well-known actor Aras Bulut İynemli joined the opening ceremony organized in Kahramanmaraş as part of the "Coding Tomorrow Supports the Social Life" project.
Vodafone Turkey Foundation Charmain, Hasan Süel, said:
"As Vodafone Turkey Foundation, we took action for our children, who we believe are the group most affected by earthquakes. We wanted to create special environments for them where they could socialize while being trained in technology, so that they could feel better and reconnect to life. For this reason, we redesigned the 'Coding Tomorrow' project in line with the needs of the region and launched the 'Coding Tomorrow Supports the Social Life' project. Following Adıyaman, we are glad to set up our second container technology class in Kahramanmaraş as part of the project. In the next months, we will also set up container technology classes in Hatay and Malatya. Moreover, our mobile tent school is on its way to visit villages, tent cities and container cities in 11 disaster-affected provinces. In our container technology classes and mobile school tent, we are organizing music and fairy tale workshops, coding training, and various social activities for our children aged 7-14. Our goal is to reach 100,000 children in total. As Vodafone Turkey Foundation, we will maintain our efforts to support the revitalization of economic and social life in the region."
Taha Aydoğmuş, Habitat Association Assistant Secretary General, made the following remarks :
"The 'Coding Tomorrow Supports the Social Life' project, which we are carrying out together with Habitat Association and Vodafone Turkey Foundation, offers our children hope and the opportunity to take a firm step towards the future. In the aftermath of the earthquake, we set up a container technology class in Adıyaman to improve the educational conditions of children, and we are currently setting up our second container technology class in Kahramanmaraş. To date, we have contributed to the education of more than 1,000 children in container cities through rhythm and storytelling workshops, technology training, reading hours, exam preparatory and psychosocial activities. Besides our container classes, we will use all our resources to reach out to other children in the region to improve their conditions and support them. We aim to reach children in 11 cities with the mobile school tent we have initiated with this purpose. The most important thing for us is the smiling faces of our children. As Habitat Association, our top priority is the education and future of our earthquake-affected children. Through this project, we are rebuilding the hopes of our children and seeking to offer them a better future. It is our belief that by working together, we can mitigate the effects of the earthquake and build a stronger future."
Aras Bulut İynemli stated:
"We will heal the wounds of this great disaster together. There is a lot we can do, both individually and collectively. It is highly important that we ensure that our children, especially earthquake-affected ones, see the future with a sense of hope. I believe that the "Coding Tomorrow Supports the Social Life" project will bring a light to the lives of our children in the disaster zone and will be an important step in their dreams for the future. I support this project with all my heart.
The mobile tent school will reach 20,000 children.
As part of the "Coding Tomorrow Supports the Social Life" project, the mobile tent school will visit villages, tent cities and container cities in 11 disaster-affected provinces. The tent is equipped with computers, Makey Makey, Mbots, projectors, Arduino and STEM sets, board games and books to support children's learning while ensuring that they have a pleasant time as well. The first stop will be Kadıoğlu Çiftliği Primary School in Kahramanmaraş. The tent then will visit Güzelyurt Nacarlar Primary School, Saadet Arifioğlu Secondary School, Seyrantepe Primary School and Emiroğlu Bertizler Primary School. Its next stop is the Renzip Village in Adıyaman. Depending on the number of children in the regions, the tent stays for 3-4 days and an average of 15 children can benefit from the training at a time. The mobile tent school aims to reach 20,000 children.
Hackathon for high school students
As part of the "Coding Tomorrow Supports the Social Life" project, psychology professionals-approved special education and activities will be organized for children in the region in container technology classes and mobile tent school. The activities and training to be provided as part of the project will also include other provinces where child earthquake victims are resettled. With the "Hackathon for Technological Solutions to Natural Disasters" to be organized for high school youth, solutions to natural disasters will also be created by leveraging AI and other technologies.
The project has reached over 300,000 children
Within the "Coding Tomorrow" project, children between 7-14 across Turkey receive theoretical and practical training from volunteer trainers on various subjects, including the introduction to programming, algorithm logic, application development, storytelling, and game development. As part of the "Coding Tomorrow", which has reached over 300,000 children in 81 provinces to date, 14 million TRY of social value was obtained last year, and each investment of 1 TRY for the project yielded a social return of 7,7 TRY.
